A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was in grade school, I loved reading, writing, and drawing. As time went on, I saw the digital aspect of those hobbies and continued to find new ways to make works.

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

—Edgar Allen Poe

From Then to Now...

By Siara Garcia

Ever since I was in grade school, I enjoyed working on my computer. Before doing an assignment, I used to ask my teachers if I could make the project into a PowerPoint presentation or type up the essay to turn it in. Now, virtually every assignment I turn in is via computer and keyboard--which, don't get me wrong, really excites me.  My interests in kindergarten weren't very orthodox compared to my peers. I loved Star Wars, and still do! Even though our technology isn't as advanced as it is in the films, the movies opened my eyes to the fact that we had great tech! As I grew up, my family got one computer and we all shared it. However, I used it the most--learning the different ways to complete everyday task and whatever I needed for school.

Shortly after realizing that, I had gotten a smart-phone. Almost as soon as i got it, I downloaded any apps that had to do with editing(at the time, only the free ones). I kept editing pictures, blending them to make two completely different pictures look like they belong in one, and drawing on my phone too.

A while ago, I discovered anime and manga which I fell in love with. The art style is my favorite, the stories and plot twists are surprising (depending on which you watch) so then i started drawing. Digital drawing and traditional drawing are both passions of mine, and as programs get updates and new computers and drawing tablets are released, I will continue to draw.

Another passion of mine is photography, it's always amazed me how much detail or thought goes into a photograph, and the meaning it has behind the picture.

I've only just developed my love for photography, but I have been interested in it in the past years of my life, since grade school I would be taking random pictures that didn't have any composition... You know what they say, 'The first 1,000 pictures you take are your worst.' Nevertheless, I'll keep making that shutter click until those 1,000 photographs are over, and I take a step into the world of beautiful art of photography even further.

When I was just 2 years old, I would watch the news, whatever it was, in English and Spanish.  After turning 3, I could speak the basics of both languages. Most adults say television rots your brains, but it actually taught me to read and speak.  After learning how to read, I developed a love for literature, and kept finding new ways to write. To this day, I write stories and hope to write a screenplay or a novel one day. Now, they're mostly short stories scrapped throughout the years, but sometimes i revisit them and write a new version.

They say that writing goes hand in hand with drawing, and that to be skilled at both would allow you to show others exactly how you visioned your characters. That is my goal, to create a story in writing and show others my vision through drawings.

Novels aren't the only type of writing I'm interested in--I'm also a fan of poetry. All kinds of stories or information are amazing, depending on the composition.

What Do I Want to be in the Future...?

Photographer

Making great photographs or just taking portait pictures for events would be a goal of mine. I love working with a camera and traveling around the world to take amazing photographs interests me.

Writer

I love any kind of writing. Editorials, screenplays, books, poetry--I love it all. To be a professional screenplay writer or a book writer would be an aspiration I've had for as long as I can rememeber. Being a notable author in the New York Times is a great feat I'd like to complete one day.

Digital Designer

Whether it's designing websites or a new logo, this is a career path i would like to walk on. Creating color schemes and making a website look appealing or drawing out a new commercial logo are some of the jobs I'd like to

Artist

Even though I'm an amateur, I'd like to become an artist one day. Traditional or digital, both are ideal to me. Looking at other artists inspired me--I want to become as skilled as they are, so I am going to work hard and practice until I can make exceptional works.

Forensic Photographer

Besides taking landscape pictures or portaits, I'd like to become a forensic photographer, documenting evidence for investigators. The forensic field has always been one of my interests, but if I cannot become a detective, I would like my camera to reveal the evidence and clues.

These are pieces done out of school--hobbies and dabbles in design, video or picture editing.
